Collection: Gokou Knives

Gokou Knives are handcrafted treasures from a small workshop in Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, led by head blacksmith Yamakawa Norihiko and his son Yoshito.
Forged with stainless-clad Shirogami #1 (White Steel) at a +/- 60 HRC, these blades marry traditional Japanese techniques with rustic charm, featuring octagonal walnut handles and purpleheart ferrules. Known for their razor-sharp edges, excellent retention, and ease of sharpening, they’re designed for slicing produce and boneless meats with precision. Though relatively new to the knife-making scene, Gokou has quickly earned a reputation for high-quality, budget-friendly knives with standout grinds and impressive heat treatment. Their brittle carbon steel core requires careful handling to avoid chipping, but the trade-off is a performance that shines in skilled hands.
