Collection: Yamamoto Knives
Nao Yamamoto is an award-winning master blacksmith from Fukui Prefecture, deeply rooted in the region’s renowned blade-making heritage. Based in Echizen City, he trained under Shiro Kamo as well as the late, great Masami Asai, inheriting the prestigious Echizen Marukatsu title and crafting knives under the Asai name as part of the Takefu Knife Village association.
Known for forging both stainless and high-carbon steels, he produces striking Damascus-patterned blades that deliver the peak of Aogami blue paper steel performance. His expertise in heat-treating and the "Nimai-Hiroge" method results in knives celebrated for their sharpness, durability, and effortless cutting ability. Certified as a Traditional Master Craftsman (Dentou Kougeishi) at age 39, Yamamoto upholds Echizen’s 700-year legacy with every blade. His creations, often featuring thin, precise edges supported by a hefty spine, are prized by chefs and collectors alike for their functionality and artistry.
