Collection: Miyazaki Kajiya
Haruki Miyazaki is a talented blacksmith based on Fukue Island in the Goto Islands of Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, where he crafts exceptional Japanese knives.
Born in 1985, he developed a passion for blacksmithing after learning about Japan’s steel-forging history from his father, leading him to apprentice under master Toshio Ooba in Fukuoka at age 18. After five years of training, he returned to his home island in 2009 to establish his own workshop, focusing on traditional techniques and unique knife designs like the Hakata Bocho. Working alone in his small forge, Miyazaki hand-laminates and heat-treats blades, often using Aogami #2 steel with iron or stainless cladding, finished with a rustic kurouchi and tsuchime pattern. His dedication to the craft, inspired by both heritage and personal innovation, has earned him recognition as one of the region’s most promising young bladesmiths.
