Collection: Masutani Knives

Masutani Knives are handcrafted in Echizen, Japan, by Kunio Masutani, a fourth-generation blacksmith with over 30 years of experience, working from a small shop in the renowned Takefu Knife Village.
Known for their incredible value, these knives feature VG-10 or VG-1 stainless steel cores, clad in softer steel, and are celebrated for their razor-sharp edges straight out of the box, thanks to Masutani’s mastery as a sharpener. Focusing on just three shapes—gyuto, santoku, and nakiri—he prioritizes affordability and practicality, often pairing the blades with comfortable pakkawood or walnut handles. His efficient, family-run operation, including help from his grandsons and son-in-law, keeps costs low without sacrificing quality. Rooted in Echizen’s centuries-old knife-making tradition, Masutani Knives offer beginner-friendly performance that keeps up nicely with pricier brands.
